Ten Ways To Make Time For The Important Things
Making time for the important things in life is a real challenge. Have you ever ended the day with the feeling that you were as busy as you could possibly be, but didn't make any progress on the really important things? Have you been resentful of the time and energy you have to spend on meeting the demands of others? Have you ever felt out of control - that outside forces take up all your time - and you feel like a victim?
Here are ten ways you can make time for the really important things in your life.
1 - Decide what is really important to you. The 3 to 5 most important things in your life - no more than that.. This sounds so simple - and so easy. It isn't. I challenge you to sit down and write out the 3 to 5 most important things you want to accomplish in your life. Most people won't do that. It takes time and focused thought - but it is the single best investment of time you can make.
2 - Make what's important to you the foundation of your goals. Then align your goals with the requirements of those people, institutions, organizations that are important to you and can contribute to your success. This requires a shift in thought from feeling imposed on by others to seeing the requirements of others as contributing to your success. Making that mind shift can be the most liberating thing you can ever do.
3 - Adopt a "good enough" habit of thought toward the the things you must do but that are not part of your top goals. Trying to make everything the "best possible" sounds laudable - but it's a sure recipe for failure. "Best possible" and perfection can literally suck up all the time you've got, and for things that aren't really that important.
4 - Place a high value on creating structure and limiting your choices. See them as positive behaviors in your battle to preserve as much of your time as you can for the important few. Set boundaries of time, energy and money around the less important.
5 - Create a habit of thought that allows you to replace instinctive reaction with considered response. It's very easy, and lazy, to wait for an outside stimulus to create response. It's hard to sort out and choose response - but critical to your own success.
6 - Learn to say "No." There will always be demands on your time in excess of the time you have available, and while the demands of others may be good for them, they may not be good for you. Work to act only on those demands that are a win - win. Remind yourself that the price paid for having too much to do and too little time is that nothing gets done to even a "good enough" level.
7 - Make routine, predictable and structured all the "good enough" stuff. To the extent that you create routines, the focus of your thoughts and actions can be used for the important stuff. It's amazing how much real thought and planning and decision making can be accomplished while performing the routines of mowing the lawn, raking the leaves, doing the dishes....... A friend who travels a lot on business sees routines as his close friends - they keep him supplied with all his day to days, and allow him to focus on the important things. An example - he always parks his rental car under a light post while traveling - always. Why? It's easier to find it if he forgets where he parked it. Simple - effective.
8 - When it comes to the really important things, forget "multitasking." A focused hour spent on a top goal beats a day spent on "thin things." Busy is not the same as effective - often it's just an avoidance tool - it's procrastination dressed in activity.
9 - Act with enthusiasm - nothing makes things work better than energy and optimism - the belief that good things will come from our actions, and the expectation that our goals will be met and exceeded. And. if some of the routine things simply don't call for enthusiasm, then adopting a mindset of acceptance places a much higher value on accomplishing them. Saying to yourself " As soon as I've got that done - I can get on to the neat stuff" creates a reward for yourself.
10 - Enjoy the rewards of your self discipline. When the combination of the most important and the" good enough" results in your success - however you define that elusive word - take the time to celebrate.
Use these ten ways to protect as much of your energy and time and optimism as possible. The result will be greater success in the things that matter to you most - whatever they may be.

Don't Waste Your Time - Use it Wisely
Do you waste time? Are you lazy and indolent or are you continuously on the go, using every minute to the maximum?
If you are in the first category, there are a lot of very obvious things you can do to improve, but in this article I want to concentrate on those of us who are already using our time constructively and examine how you can squeeze even more from your day.
You may think that your life is so full that this is impossible, but I recently ran an inventory of how I used my time and realised that there was still some room for improvement. Here's what I discovered.
Timespace #1 – For years I avoided doing any kind of exercise. It was pretty easy for me, I had been skinny all my life and even though I wasn't too fit, I was still the right weight. As I got older, though I realised that I had to take my body a bit more seriously.
Since then I have become a moderate, regular exerciser; I now go running for half an hour every second day and visit the gym three times a week. No problem there; I get satisfaction from using my time well and I appreciate the results.
However, I calculated that I am spending about five hours per week doing great things for my body, but nothing for my mind. So now when I'm pounding the streets or straining at the weights, I use the opportunity to listen to self development programs on my I-Pod, to concentrate on goal visualization, to practice affirmations or just focus on being grateful for all the good things in my life. And there's a bonus too; because the blood is racing through my veins, my brain is more alert and better prepared to learn and grow.
Timespace #2 – I drive a lot. My business requires a good deal of travel and most of it is done in the car. I used to listen to music on the radio or go into an almost trance-like ‘auto pilot' mode, usually to escape the tedium of long distance driving.
Now, though, I put a self development CD in the player, or a language course, or again, I use the time to practice visualizations and affirmations. The privacy of your little tin box allows you to shout, sing, laugh or mumble. Who cares? You are on your own. It's your space.
Timespace #3 – Finally, this one is not so much about finding extra time as making better use of the time I thought I was using wisely. My personal time audit showed me that I was wasting a whole hour, sometimes more, at the beginning of the day catching up on the overnight e-mail load and then planning what I was going to do for the rest of the day.
I prided myself on being an efficient time warrior, but I now realise, that I was missing one of the biggest mistakes of all.
So how did I fix that? Simple. I changed two things. Firstly, I now do my planning, the night before, by taking ten minutes, near to the end of the evening and writing down everything I want to achieve the next day. The bonus here is that overnight, my mind works on the issues even while I sleep, so by the time I get started next day, I am far better prepared.
Secondly, I leave my e-mail inbox until lunchtime. I spend the morning getting through the goals I assigned the night before and then just before I take a break for lunch, I race through my inbox. That way, I find I already feel good about what I've done so far in the day, my mind is much more focused and I don't get distracted.
So no matter how efficient you think you are, take a look again at your day and I'll bet you can find some extra layers of time, you never knew you had. Good hunting.

It’s About Time
Ever find yourself wishing you had just a few more hours in the day to get it all done? Between work and family responsibilities alone, it can be challenging to juggle time for everything. Surely we were created for more than a life on a continuous treadmill where we never seem to catch up.
Futurists predicted that, in the 21st century, work would be done in virtual organizations and paperless offices. Some even said that the work week would drop to 35, or even 30 hours, and that too much leisure time could become a problem.
Has that been your experience? It's not what I see happening with the busy professionals I work with everyday. Over the past quarter-century, the number of hours spent working has continued to rise. The constant pressure to reduce costs and to do more with less often leaves employees in an unending cycle of overwork and overwhelm which ultimately leads to decreased productivity and efficiency in the organization. With the extra work and increased pace we strive to keep up with, we are quickly catapulted into a world of stress, exhaustion and even health problems if we don't make our self- care a top priority.
What is the solution? Time management can help. Or rather, more effective use of time can help. When you think about it, you don't really manage time, you manage yourself and how you choose to spend each 24 hour day you are given. By having tools and support available, you can better manage yourself and the choices you make.
Top 5 Tips for Managing Time
1. Stop using time as an excuse. We all have the same 24 hours in a day You choose how you use your 1,440 precious minutes each day. If someone - or something - else is determining how you use your minutes and hours, now may be an excellent time to look at changes you need to make.
2. Find out where you spend your time. It may sound odd to suggest taking time in an already busy schedule to assess how you are using time, but do know where you are spending your time? Try tracking your time for the next week and see just what you are doing with your 24 hours. This exercise will help you identify opportunities for changes to alleviate time pressures.
3. Simplify your life. Clear your schedule of time-consuming activities that are not essential. Over-volunteering, doing other people's work, relationships that are not working... these are a great place to start simplifying and reclaiming valuable time.
4. Be intentional about scheduling. If you want to accomplish a task, you must be intentional about scheduling it. For example, if you want to go to the gym to workout, you must put it on your calendar and plan for time to get there and back as well as for your workout. Insert it into your schedule, and then guard the time carefully to make sure nothing gets in the way of you getting it done.
5. Zap Time Wasters. Time wasted can never be regained. A few examples... browsing the Internet, email, chatting with co-workers, looking for things, and talking on the phone. Zap these time bandits by: scheduling a time to return phone calls and email, getting organized so that time is not wasted looking for tools and papers or using an Internet reminder service to keep track of important dates or events.
"Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein." ~ H. Jackson Brown

How To Be More Successful By Using Effective Time Management Tools
Do you feel irritated and annoyed during the day because you just feel like you can’t get anything done? Do you feel overwhelmed or disorganized? People who are very successful in their given fields have learned to use effective time management tools and therefore are able to get more done in less time and with less stress. Here are a few ideas to help you manage your time better.
The first thing you have to do is get rid of the clutter and get organized. This is the toughest thing for many people; I know it is for me! If you are one of those whose filing system is the top of their desk and you have papers, notes, and books all over the place then this is where you need to start. Take everything off of your desktop that you don’t use everyday and put the rest in drawers. After you have cleared your mess we can move on to the next step.
The next thing that must be done in order to be successful is to learn to prioritize. Everything is not life or death; you have to learn to distinguish what must be done and what can be delayed. At the beginning of every day tale a few minutes to make a list of tasks that need to be accomplished and then prioritize them in order of importance. One trick that works well is to group the items that must be done that day, then items that should be worked on, and finally those things that can wait. Keep your list with you all the time so that you can get some of the things done like phone calls in down time like waiting in lines of traffic or waiting to pick up the kids at school.
Use time management tools you are comfortable with. If using a regular calendar works for you then by all means use it and don’t feel like you have to learn to use the latest PDA. On the other hand, if are the techie type keep yours with you at all times along with a planner so that you can also write down notes and appointments that may require more than your PDA allows.
Make time to work ahead so that you don’t get behind on projects that are coming up soon. If you get the jump on them it will keep you from getting stressed. Just try to fit in a few hours at night during the week instead of lying around watching TV. Once you get used to it you will be amazed at how much stress it takes away and how much more time it gives you.
Schedule your appointments and other errands in an efficient manner. It just makes sense to take out a map and be sure that you aren’t running back and forth. Plan your destinations in logical order so that you save time and gas by not running all over the city.

Imagine Having Four Extra Hours Per Day
What would you do if you had four extra hours to spend every day?
I could hand it to you right now on a silver platter if you like. By tomorrow you could have an extra four hours already. The hours would add up quickly. In a week, you would have 28 extra hours. In a month, you would have over 120 extra hours. In just a year, you would have 1460 hours (61 solid days!). Imagine what you could do all that time.
Don't believe this is possible?
There's more. You won't need to quit your job to get this time. You won't need to cut out half of your night's sleep. You don't even need to buy anything. Getting this time is simple. Some people may find it a bit challenging. Others may even consider it a bit revolutionary. All you have to do to get this extra time is:
Get rid of your TV.
That's right. That is all you have to do. Get rid of it. Good-bye. Cionara. Au reviore. Tschuss. Ciao. Toss it out the window. Throw it in the trash. Get rid of it. Toss it in Boston harbor and have a Boston 'TV' party! On second thought, TV sets are toxic waste. Take your old sets to the toxic reclamation center.
You may even get more than four hours a day by turning off your television set for good. Some people may get a little less. If you are an average American, you will gain an average of 4 hours 35 minutes every day. Now, let's imagine how you might actually use these four hours every day.
Hour 1-Sleep and Self Renewal
Do you need more sleep? Have you been watching the late, late, late show every night with glazed eyes and the remote control mysteriously glued to your hand? Starting tonight, you could start getting the full amount of sleep you need.
Perhaps you could benefit from some quiet personal time for reflection every day. You could read a book. You could pray or meditate. You could relax in a hammock. You could go for an evening stroll and observe all the houses with funny glows emanating from their depths, the residents staring blankly at their TV screens.
Hour 2-Health and Exercise
Once you get some rest, you could get that couch potato body moving again. You could go outside and enjoy the great outdoors. You could play. You could dance. If you have children, instead of allowing them to watch the "after-school specials," you could send your kids outside in the time-honored tradition of parents everywhere: "Go Outside and Play!" You could even start that exercise regimen you have been putting off since New Years.
Hour 3-Family and Friends
Probably the greatest benefit to getting rid of the TV is that you have time to spend with your family and friends, actually interacting and building happy memories. TV is such a horrible substitute for real family interactions. Building real memories and enjoying real interactions with friends and family is far more rewarding than reruns of Leave it to Beaver or Friends.
Your family could start eating meals together. You could have a "Family Game Night." You could invite your friends over for a cup of coffee. You could even take a mini-vacation.
Hour 4-Community Time
An interesting essay by Robert Putnam called "The Strange Disappearance of Civic America" highlighted an important problem: since the advent of television Americans' "civic engagement", or participation in social groups, has been declining.
It is time to bring back the America of old, the good old days when Americans led the world in community engagement. Bring back the neighborhood block parties. Bring back the church potlucks. Bring back the social activism. In the past these things defined America. TV has turned America into the "blue light special" nation, a pathetic shadow of the America of community builders and problem solvers of yore.
The choice is yours
Naturally, how you choose to spend your four hours a day is totally up to you. These suggestions are only meant to spark your imagination. You could devote your entire four hours to building a business or mastering a new skill. You could devote all your extra time to your family or your community. You could write a book. You could even go fishing for four hours every day. The opportunities are limitless.
Of course, you may have to sacrifice the latest sexcapade on "Desperate Housewives." You may need to forego "Must see TV". You may have to sacrifice the latest football drama and the interminable replays. You might even miss the latest antics of Brittany and Paris.
However, consider what you will gain if you merely find the willpower to get rid of your TV.

Psychology Of Success
Do you believe that if you do what other successful people do you will also become successful? You should, because your beliefs become your reality!
There is a song with a line in it that goes: Free your mind, the rest will follow…
That is absolutely correct. Our thinking is the critical factor in how our daily lives turn out. Because you BECOME what you THINK ABOUT most of the time. So think about your goals and how to get them most of the time.
GOALS: It is essential to have goals; you have to have a focal point. Write down on a piece of paper 10 goals that you have. Which one is the most important to you? Focus on that goal.
OPTIMISM: This is a key characteristic of Successful People.
Eliminate the negative emotions that can and do hold you back. Don’t worry about things you can’t change. If you like to play the blame the game or whine about why this or that isn’t working out for you or you make excuses for your lack of success, you will continue to be what you are now – unsuccessful.
HOW: Successful people think about what they want and HOW to get it most of the time.
Time Management Approach
(A): Actions that move you in the direction of a goal that you want
(B): Actions that do not move you in the direction of a goal that you want
It is human nature to do the easy tasks first or the actions that do not achieve the results that you desire for your business. This is the greatest enemy to your success. Do only (A) actions, the actions that move you in the direction of your goals.
HOURLY WAGE - NOT YEARLY INCOME. Successful people think in terms of how much they are worth an hour and only do actions that will help them achieve their desired results. Think about it… What are you doing right now? What are the tasks you perform every day to move you closer to your goals. Are they worth $50 an hour? Would you pay someone else $50 an hour to do what you did today? Remember you only get paid for results.
If you could do only 1 thing all day long, what would contribute the most value to your business? What 2 things… What 3 things… Do fewer things, do more of those fewer things and get better at them!
SKILLS: What skill do you need that would have the greatest impact on your income? Your weakest skill normally determines your income. All business skills are learnable! Believe that you ARE one skill away from doubling your income.
RESULTS: Ask yourself, of all the results that I could get, what one result would help my business the most?
YOU, your thoughts, your actions, determine your success. You hold your success in your hands. How do you BELIEVE it’s going to turn out?

Six Ways To Become More Efficient At Work And At Home
Most of us are eager to give of ourselves and then give some more. Whether it's giving advice to friends or coworkers, volunteering for activities in the community or at our child's school or just saying yes to every request that comes our way. What happens with all this giving is you become so buried under a mountain of responsibilities that the most important things in your life suffer. You have to take time for yourself and your family. One way to do this is to become more efficient in every area of your life. Let's look at six ways to become efficient.
1) Schedule your day. If you have to, get up an hour early each day and write out your plan for the day. Then priotize each task on your list and put it in order of priority. Schedule what you need to do into a planning sheet and block out time to get it accomplished. Do this every single day, even on the weekends.
2) Stop trying to multi-task. Turn off the email notification function on your computer. Email kills your concentration and makes you lose focus on what you were doing. Don't get side lined by interruptions from others. If you are trying to finish a report for an important client or meeting, don't accept a request from a drop-in visitor who "just has a quick question"
3) Learn to control self-interruption. You are at your desk absorbed in your work, when all of a sudden you brain starts talking to you. It reminds you of something that you need to tell a coworker or an important task that you need to take care of. Instead of grabbing the phone or shooting off an email, write down what you need to tell that person or the task that you need to do in a separate binder that you keep for such purposes. Keep working on your current project and set aside time later to take care of things on your binder list.
4) Say NO more often. Know what your priorities are. When someone requests something of you and it doesn't fit into your priorities, just say no. You don't have to justify your answer with a long explanation or excuse.
5) Delegate as much as you can. We often think we can do everything ourselves, or that others will not devote as much care to the task as we would have. That is delusion, as we do not have enough time to do all that anyway. Other coworkers or other members of your family could easily do some of the tasks. Get away from the thinking that you are the only one who can do the job right.
6) Stop trying to be perfect. Some tasks can be done and are just as successful even if they are not perfect. Trying to be perfect with everything will slow you down and cause too much un-needed stress in your life.
Your time is a very precious resource that should not be wasted. Efficiency is the key to getting things accomplished in your work and at home. Implement the above steps and you will find yourself accomplishing more in less time, and with less stress.

The Working Mom’s Survival Guide
Working moms often feel like they’re running two different rat races. When they’re at the office, they’re worrying about reports, meetings, deadlines, and what to wear at this evening’s cocktails. When they’re at home, they’re balancing checkbooks, checking their kids’ homework, fussing over a child’s Halloween costume, and planning what to serve for Saturday’s dinner with the in-laws.
It’s exhausting, stressful, and ultimately, confusing. Things fall through the cracks. “Oh, was it my turn to bring cookies to this month’s PTA meeting?” “Oh no, I forgot my mother’s birthday!” “What do you mean, you need a costume for tomorrow?”
Here are some tips to keep working moms on track:
* Keep a consolidated planner. While most working moms will have a business calendar, with meetings and deadlines carefully plotted, they often forget to include personal appointments like vaccination schedules, birthdays of relatives, or soccer practices. Instead of keeping your family calendar and office planner separate, keep your notes in one place. You can use color coded pencils or, for greater convenience, use a digital or online planner so you can revise your schedules neatly and efficiently.
* Don’t trust your memory. Even the most organized working mom will be hard-pressed to remember everything that needs to be completed in a given day. Leave reminders where you can see them, and where you’re most likely to look even when you’re at your most frantic. Stick post its on the dashboard of your car or bathroom mirror, not on the already overcrowded bulletin board. Tape an important document on the inner lid of your briefcase. Or better yet, set up your digital planner to send email reminders or create pop up windows on your desk top.
* Never overbook. If you find that your task list has spun out of control, and your meetings tend to overlap, then it’s a sign that you’re not allotting enough time for delays or obstacles. If you think you’ll need just one afternoon to complete the report, allocate two just in case someone schedules an emergency meeting. Then, delegate the tasks that you won’t have time for given your more realistic schedule.
* Resist the urge to do everything. Working moms, let go of the Superwoman Myth! Not only is it impossible to do every single thing, you shouldn’t. You need quality time—with your child, your partner, yourself—and that means letting go of the tasks that aren’t important. Can you enlist your sister to bake the cookies for this Saturday’s PTA conference? That gives you an extra hour to cuddle with your toddler instead of slaving in the kitchen. Can you cascade information through email instead of setting up a meeting? You save yourself (and everyone else involved) an hour where you can finish another report or clean out your files.
* Pencil in that “Me” time. When you’re stressed out and busy, you tend to put yourself last on the list, just to be able to keep up with your responsibilities to other people. This is the worst decision you can make. The busier you are, the more you need to recharge, even if it’s half an hour soaking in the tub, or sneaking to the parlor to get your toenails painted pink. Work hard, but play hard too—you deserve it.

Time Management and Attitude
The key to time management is not a perfect system. It is not learning to prioritize tasks like a pro. It does not even have much to do with how many tasks we have laid out in front of us. Time management inevitably boils down to a simpler, very personal, consideration.
Time management is an exercise in attitude. Our personal attitude and disposition toward time and its use will have a far greater impact on our ability to manage time than any strategy ever can.
So, what is the proper attitude to take toward time management? It really boils down to a three-pronged approach.
First, we must stop seeing time as an enemy. Those who approach every day as if it were a race against the clock will eventually tire. Fighting time day in and day out is a Sisyphean proposition wherein no real progress is ever made.
When we recognize that time is an inevitability that can never truly be conquered, we will begin to notice a shift in perspective. We will begin to approach time as a natural fact and will try to live within it successfully instead of trying to crush it or stretch it to fit their imagined needs.
Second, we must begin to truly value time as a precious commodity. Time, after all, is the basis for all things. Without it, there is nothing else. It is a true prerequisite to all aspects of our lives and is the foundation upon which all of our eventual goals will be enjoyed.
By recognizing the value of time, we can begin to approach it differently. Our attitude can transform from being one of disdain or distaste to one of appreciation. We will begin to infuse all of our time with a certain giddiness, excitement and appreciation that will make us more efficient and active. We will also learn to reject wasting our truly precious time.
Third, we must stop seeing time management as an end in itself. Our goal should never be to create more time--time is inevitably finite. Instead, we should approach time management understanding that each minute represents a new window of opportunity and our goal should be to experience as many of those windows as possible each day.
When we stop looking at time management as an end and recognize it as a means to a greater end, we can make better prioritization and other decisions. We end up with more control of our lives and can stop trying to measure our success or failure based purely upon what time we were able to finish our workday.
Of course, time management strategies and systems can help us with the nuts and bolts of all of these things, but in the end, the true value obtained from time management is not just freeing up a few hours to watch a movie in the evening. It runs far deeper. By having and nurturing the right attitudes toward time, we can not only get more done, we can enjoy life more in the process.

The Key to a Better Life
Time management is basically about being focused. The Pareto Principle also known as the '80:20 Rule' states that 80% of efforts that are not time managed or unfocused generates only 20% of the desired output. However, 80% of the desired output can be generated using only 20% of a well time managed effort. Although the ratio '80:20' is only arbitrary, it is used to put emphasis on how much is lost or how much can be gained with time management.
Some people view time management as a list of rules that involves scheduling of appointments, goal settings, thorough planning, creating things to do lists and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.
But there is more skills involved in time management than the core basics. Skills such as decision making, inherent abilities such as emotional intelligence and critical thinking are also essential to your personal growth.
Personal time management involves everything you do. No matter how big and no matter how small, everything counts. Each new knowledge you acquire, each new advice you consider, each new skill you develop should be taken into consideration.
Having a balanced life-style should be the key result in having personal time management. This is the main aspect that many practitioners of personal time management fail to grasp.
Time management is about getting results, not about being busy.
The six areas that personal time management seeks to improve in anyone's life are physical, intellectual, social, career, emotional and spiritual.
The physical aspect involves having a healthy body, less stress and fatigue.
The intellectual aspect involves learning and other mental growth activities.
The social aspect involves developing personal or intimate relations and being an active contributor to society.
The career aspect involves school and work.
The emotional aspect involves appropriate feelings and desires and manifesting them.
The spiritual aspect involves a personal quest for meaning.
Thoroughly planning and having a set of things to do list for each of the key areas may not be very practical, but determining which area in your life is not being giving enough attention is part of time management. Each area creates the whole you, if you are ignoring one area then you are ignoring an important part of yourself.
Personal time management should not be so daunting a task. It is a very sensible and reasonable approach in solving problems big or small.
A great way of learning time management and improving your personal life is to follow several basic activities.
One of them is to review your goals whether it be immediate or long-term goals often.
A way to do this is to keep a list that is always accessible to you.
Always determine which task is necessary or not necessary in achieving your goals and which activities are helping you maintain a balanced life style.
Each and everyone of us has a peek time and a time when we slow down, these are our natural cycles. We should be able to tell when to do the difficult tasks when we are the sharpest.
Learning to say "No". You actually see this advice often. Heed it even if it involves saying the word to family or friends.
Pat yourself at the back or just reward yourself in any manner for an effective time management result.
Try and get the cooperation from people around you who are actually benefiting from your efforts of time management.
Don't procrastinate. Attend to necessary things immediately.
Have a positive attitude and set yourself up for success. But be realistic in your approach in achieving your goals.
Have a record or journal of all your activities. This will help you get things in their proper perspective.
These are the few steps you initially take in becoming a well rounded individual.
As the say personal time management is the art and science of building a better life.
From the moment you integrate into your life time management skills, you have opened several options that can provide a broad spectrum of solutions to your personal growth. It also creates more doors for opportunities to knock on.

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People – The Two Letter Word That Is The Key To Time Management
We all know that we should be spending as much time as possible on important but not urgent activities. For example planning, preventing crises before they happen, building relationships and looking for new opportunities. However so many people seem to spend their lives swamped in urgent, unimportant things that they never get the time for the important stuff. If you have this problem, you need to learn a magic word…
Creating time to control the crises
If you spend your life going from one crisis to another, or spending time on unimportant trivia, then you need to learn how to use the magic word – NO
Your time is the most precious quantity you have, you only have one chance at it and you need to use it wisely. You must allocate some of it to planning and developing your long term future.
The problem is in our fast paced world of instant communications and higher pressures at work and in the home, there are so many things that could claim some of your time. You will not have the time to do everything and you are going to have to learn to say no.
Learning to say no
One of the key concepts of the 7 habits of highly effective people is that you should use principles to guide you. Using principles as a basis, you can develop a clear idea of where you are going in your life – your life mission or purpose.
Once you know where you are going, you can work out how you are going to get there. This plan can include your job, your personal life, your life in your community… Now you have a basis for evaluating each new request or opportunity as it arises. You can evaluate whether it fits in with what you plan to do and whether you can find the time to do it or not. You will know with reassurance whether to say “yes” or “no.”
Saying no can sometimes be difficult. For instance if your boss wants you to help patch up a crisis you might just have to put your other plans on hold for a while. However, you should have a clear plan that you have negotiated with your boss. If your goals will be compromised you can ask your boss “which of the other things we have agreed on should I put on hold while I do this new task”.
In fact, this approach can work well in lots of different situations. In other situations you are just going to have to find a way to say no as politely as possible.
The person that many people find it hardest to say “no” to is themselves. You will need to develop the self discipline to work on your goals rather than spend your time on unimportant activities like watching the TV, minor interruptions from people around, you inconsequential phone calls and all the other ways that you have of distracting yourself from your true purpose.
“No” is the most important word in the language of time management in a world where you are bombarded by interruptions and time wasting activities.
The 7 habits of highly effective people teaches us that when you truly know what you want to do and you develop the ability to say “no” to anything that does not support your life purpose, you will find that you can succeed in reaching your life goals.

Kevin John has spent many years helping businesses owners, aspiring business owners, and private individuals to achieve successIn Search Of Prosperity - Time Management Guidelines For Business Prosperity
When I first started out in search of Prosperity by way of an Internet Business Income Opportunity, I was very easily distracted by the overwhelming amount of information that flowed into my in-box each day. Sign up for this, sign up for that. I felt like I spent most of my days signing up for one Internet Business Opportunity after another.
Before I knew it, my day would be over and about the only thing I accomplished was giving myself blisters on my fingers from tapping out my details on the keyboard all day. I did acquire useful snippets of information from time to time, but was often left feeling frustrated that I was not actually making progress in real terms, in fact, all I was doing was playing the Internet Income Opportunity Game.
I began to realize that if I were going to have any chance of debt free prosperous living using an Internet Income Opportunity I would need a plan and a plan that I could work with each day. A plan that I would follow regardless of the hundreds of Internet Income Opportunities that ventured my way. My time management was terrible, in fact I had no time management skills whatsoever and I was certainly not working towards developing a prosperous Internet business.
It was only when I implemented some really simple Time Management Guidelines that I saw results from my efforts and my dream of debt free prosperous living started to become a reality.
Apply the following Time Management Guidelines in your Internet Business every day. They work well and help keep you focused on the tasks at hand. This is a critical factor in determining how prosperous your Internet Business will be. Developing these strategies as a daily habit will give you a very clear and definite picture of what you have achieved so far and what tasks still need to be worked on. Invest a couple of dollars in an exercise book that you can use solely for the purpose of implementing these Guidelines. Do not use it for anything else.
On the first couple of pages, clarify your objectives (your goals) for your Internet Business and your desired Internet Income. For example, what kind of Internet Business do you want? How much Internet Income do you want to earn? Seriously, I know you have probably heard this before but having your objectives in writing really helps you work out in your mind what it is that you want not just in your Internet Business but in your personal life as well.
I have my list not only in my book, but pinned up to my wall right next to my computer desk so that I can see them everyday. Prioritize your objectives in order of importance. Work out a time frame for each of these objectives eg. 5 years, 2 years, 1 year, 6 months, two months, 1 month etc, get the picture?
Keep in the forefront of your mind what your objectives are. I am not suggesting you daydream your life away thinking about how safely prosperous or really rich your going to be in 5 years. However, sometimes when you are working on a task that is rather dull that does need to be done, focusing on your objectives rather than the tasks will help maintain you maintain a positive frame of mind. Overcome the desire to procrastinate. Learn to do it now as tomorrow will never come.
Plan your time around achieving these objectives. Write out an activity plan for each day, each week, and each month. Ask yourself what tasks you need to undertake and accomplish by the end of the time frames you have set so that you can achieve a debt free prosperous living business.
Single out the most important task, the one that will be the most beneficial in developing a debt free prosperous living business and complete it. It's important to note however, that you do need to be realistic with time frames. Do not set your self up to complete a task in a day that realistically will take you a week. This will only lead to further frustration and disappointment.
Always make the first hour of your workday productive. This will set the tone the rest of the day and typically, if the first hour is productive the rest of the day will be as well.
Always leave time allocated for the unexpected or for interruptions. Just remember that tasks that are scheduled always have a better opportunity of working out than tasks that are unscheduled.
Be meticulous with your work. Take the time to do it right the first time and don't rush through a task just because you want to get it done. Do the work ONCE.
Develop a habit of finishing any task you start. Don't jump from one thing to another (one of my bad habits). This just leaves a string of unfinished tasks behind.
Periodically, keep a log of how you use your time; this will help to identify bad time management habits that you can eliminate. In fact, you should analyze everything you do in terms of your objectives. Record what you do, when you do it and why you do it. If it becomes apparent that something is a waste of time, eliminate it from your plan and replace it with something else.
Allocate an hour each day of uninterrupted time for your most important tasks. Pick a time where you are most productive, for some it is in the morning for others it is at night.
Make better time management a daily habit. This takes practice, but believe me, you will get better if you stick to these guidelines. Set your objectives, identify your priorities, plan and schedule your time. Do important tasks first and resist the impulse to go off on tangents. Always complete weekly reviews of what you have and have not accomplished.
Lastly, but in no way the least important, is to make time for some fun in your day. Something that you like to do that is not about Business. Relax and recharge your batteries. This will help you to remain focused, energetic and maintain a positive frame of mind.
Follow these Time Management Guidelines, for you too can be prosperous in business. They will help you succeed in your journey to debt free prosperous living. Safely prosperous or really rich, which is your goal?

Deal With Time Wasters For Effective Time Management
There are two main categories that time wasters or time bandits can fall under. The first category is self generated internal time wThere are two main categories that time wasters or time bandits can fall under. The first category is self generated internal time wasters. These are the things that you do yourself to waste time and are the easiest to control. The second category are the external time wasters. These are the things other people do to waste your time. This can be more diffucult to control, though it can be controlled with a little bit of effort and ingenuity.
Let's look at the self generated internal time wasters and some possible solutions:
1) The lack of planning and priorities. Many people never get anything accomplished because they don't know where to begin or how to proceed once started. It is important that you keep a weekly schedule. List your priorities in order of importance. If needed, discuss the priorities with your boss or coworkers. Make a schedule that starts at the beginning of each week and incorporates all of your priorities into the schedule with goals for completion dates. List every hour and what you should be working on for that hour. Schedule tight so there is not a lot of time in between projects. Too much time between projects is wasted time.
2) Disorganization. Disorganized people spend way too much time looking for lost items. Keep your office neatly organized and free of clutter. If you can't do this yourself, recruit a friend or hire someone to help you.
3) Procrastination. This is a big time waster. Set a deadline for those projects that you don't want to do. Plan a reward for yourself when finished. Work on the project in small chunks until completed. Sometimes it helps to work on it first thing in the morning to get it out of the way.
The second category of time wasters is the external time wasters. These are not as easy to control since they involve external factors. Here are some solutions to help control or at the very least, keep them to a minimum:
1) Visitors. If you get a lot of visitors dropping to your work area this could be a huge time waster for you. The solution is to move your desk so that your back is to the door. This will make you seem less approachable. When someone stops in to talk, stand up. This will send the message that you don't have time to chat. If all else fails be honest. Tell them thanks for dropping by, but tactfully let them know that you need to get back to work.
2) Telephone calls. Screen your calls. Let the voice mail take your calls during the day when you are busy. Schedule time during each day when you will return the calls and let your clients know when that time will be. Keep your answers short and to the point and end the conversation politely when it has achieved it's purpose. With a little practice you can be personable and still keep the conversation short.
3) Mail. It can flood your desk and take it over before you it. Schedule time each day to go through your mail. Make it a rule to handle each piece of mail only once. Throw out the junk mail immediately, file" information only" mail in a file box to be read later and respond to the others by telephone or fax. Faxing a response is a great idea because the response is immediate and takes very little time.
4) Email. Clean out your email box daily and don't use your business email address for personal use.
Using these solutions, your productivity will increase and your stress level on the job will decrease. The best part is, you can say goodbye to the time bandits forever!asters. These are the things that you do yourself to waste time and are the easiest to control. The second category are the external time wasters. These are the things other people do to waste your time. This can be more diffucult to control, though it can be controlled with a little bit of effort and ingenuity.

Two Proven Time Management Techniques Successful People Use
Now you can use these time management techniques. Like successful people, you can master the art of utilizing time more effectively, be more efficient and productive and eventually contribute to your advancement or success. See how they do it?
Proven Technique Number 1
They delegate and assign simple routinary tasks to other people so that they can have more free time to do as they please. This is very elementary but of great significance. If you have the money, hire people to do the housework, the repairing, and even some of your office jobs.
Let others do the research. But of course, you have to reward them accordingly so they will get motivated to render their services again. You can then focus on the more important things in life, like planning and managing your activities.
Proven Technique Number 2 –
They plan seriously.
The less time you think you have, the more critical it is for you to plan. By planning carefully, you’ll be able to manage your time better and avoid costly mistakes that eat up much more of your time. You might say that you’re so busy you don’t even have time to plan. Maybe you can insert some time planning while doing your other activities. The planning phase is very important in organizing your thoughts to carry out the desired effects.
You might say that this is boring stuff, but you should never underestimate this process. This is like a guideline to steer you into the right direction.
Your plan will be your road map. Spend enough time to ponder through the different approaches and activities, and you will soon realize that you can save a lot more time by doing this. It will be best if you can choose a quiet place to make your plan. Your mind can focus and think more clearly this way.
Every individual has his unique perception of a well-made plan. There are no specific rules in making it. But in case you're in a tight situation, let me give you some tips.
1. Write down your objective. This is a precise definition of your target.
2. Brainstorm the strategies & tactics you will employ to accomplish your objective.
3. Assess the advantages & disadvantages of carrying out those strategies and choose those tactics where the pros outweigh the cons.
4. Set a timeline or deadline in completing your mission.
5. Make modifications & back-up plans in case Plan A doesn't work.
6. As your plan evolves, you will gain experience. Learn from your mistakes.
Most important of all, don’t delay. Start applying what you have learned today, and have lots of great time!

Use Your Time Wisely!
When I was small, I have never considered the importance of time. I would just laze around, watch TV, lie in bed, and play video games. As I grew older, I thought about the things that I have achieved. To my surprise, I haven't accomplished a lot.
I resolved to myself that I will do things that will contribute to the benefit of mankind. I studied very hard and learned a lot of lessons from my experience. I lack self-confidence before, so I want to help other people overcome this predicament. I want to help anyone in need because it feels so good to solve other people's problems.
I urge you now to make the most use of your time. It may be joining a fundraising organization. You may also learn new skills or crafts. Create a goal and go for it!
Don't be a couch potato. Don't just sit around and be contented with the monotonous patterns of your daily activities.
Do something nice and give all your best to the fulfillment of a worthwhile endeavor. It will give you a very deep sense of happiness and satisfaction.
Some people complain that they don't have enough time to take action on their goals. They have to go to their 9 to 5 job, then when they go home they feel so tired all they can think about is watch TV, relax, and sleep.
I'm not saying that leisure is a no-no. In fact, everyone should take time out once in a while to recharge and revitalize their energy. The key is to have a balanced life. Set aside a fraction of your time to carry out your dreams and ambitions. Reserve some time to establish healthy relationships.
Ok, I hear you. You're saying that you really just can't budget your time?
Don't panic. Here are some time management tips.
1) If possible, do more than one thing at the same time.
Exercise while watching your favorite TV show. Listen to educational tapes while waiting for the bus.
Be forewarned! Never do this if it puts you at risk or in danger; for example, don't text while driving.
2) Don't do something later if it can be done concurrently with an activity at present.
If you're going to the market to buy some eggs, think of the other things that you have to purchase so that you don't have to return again.
If you have an appointment with the dentist today and you also have to go to the bank (which is near the dentist's clinic) at any day, schedule the two activities on the same day.
3) Be organized in everything that you do.
Put labels on bottles. Put similar files on one folder. Make a list of things you have to do for the day.
You can also use your mind to organize things you have to remember. Studies have shown that you could only retain information that fit between 5 to 9 categories at a time. This is the 7+-2 rule of Neurolinguistic Programming.
If you have many things to do, try to group related things together. You can combine activities such as reading books, listening to educational tapes, and watching training videos into a category such as "Education." Then you can group swimming, playing basketball, and paying fees for the gym in a category called "Fitness." Get the picture?
Time is one of our most valuable resources. Once lost, it can never be reclaimed. We must use time wisely for our development and advancement; so that when we are old, we can look back and recollect the pleasant memories and deeds that we have achieved. Time well spent is worth much more than gold.
