Meditations: Creating Your Meditation Strategy
Meditating without a plan is like going on a holiday with no idea where you are going or what you are going to do. All that will happen is that you will get lost and will not end up achieving anything. If you do meditate without having a clear strategy in place, you will find over a period of time that your interest in meditating will wane and you will simply stop meditating. However, if you develop a strategy for what you want out of your meditation, then you have a goal and this means that you are more likely to stick with your meditation sessions till you achieve your goal.
There are many reasons why you may want to meditate. The most common reason that I see people in western society want to meditate is to deal with stress and overwork. So, if you were developing a meditation strategy to deal with this issue, your strategy should be something like this -
1. Learn to meditate to bring yourself to a point of calm
2. Meditate to overcome the stress
3. Meditate to overcome the element that is causing the stress.
What you can see in this basic meditation strategy above is that, meditating to become calm and stress-free is only half the battle. If you are stressed your meditation strategy should include meditating on a way to deal with the root cause of your stress. For example, if a person at work is being abusive to you everyday as well as being rude, your meditation strategy should include meditating on ways of dealing with a person who is rude. Keep in mind that to achieve this objective it may take you many months of meditation before you can overcome this issue.
Meditation when done over a period of time and effectively is a really cool tool as it allows you to develop in your mind away that allows you to cope with any situation that you desire. For example, if a person is being rude to you, you can use reflective meditation to develop strategies on how to deal with a rude person. To achieve this, I would first read a range of different books on how to deal with difficult people and you can easily get books like that from Amazon.com or Dymocks (if you are from Australia).
From the material I read in the books, I would then identify a strategy for dealing with this difficult person and then use reflective meditation to actually work through the techniques in the books in your mind, using the reflective and learning technique to deal with them. Essentially what you are trying to do is to use scenario based meditation. The cool part about this type of meditation is that your mind is open and it allows you to try different ways of dealing with various situations and the seeing whether those techniques will help you in those situations.
The other reason we use meditation to learn this type of material is so that it ingrains the material into our mind and remind us or prompts us on how to deal with a difficult person when it occurs rather than simply going into panic mode and then getting defensive and shutting our mind down. Our minds are far more powerful than we consciously realize and the more we train our minds, the more powerful they become.
The bottom line is this, if your only reason to meditate is to simply relax and release stress then you are only addressing half of the issue. To truly achieve a difference in your life, you must meditate to address what is causing the stress. If you are meditating to help address an issue, make sure you develop a meditation plan as I described above so that you have a clear outcome for your meditation session.
Just like in business and life goals, having a long term meditation plan will help ensure that you maintain your focus when you meditate and that you have a reason to be meditating.
Ultimately, meditation is about helping you become a better person and to learn the path to enlightenment.

At first glance, it would seem that positive thinking and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) have nothing to do with one another. But many of us with ADD develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns:
1. Take Good Care of Yourself
It's much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.
2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For
Stresses and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.
3. Look for the Proof Instead of Making Assumptions
A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don't waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about.
4. Refrain from Using Absolutes
Have you ever told a partner "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a friend "You NEVER call me!"? Thinking and speaking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering.
5. Detach From Negative Thoughts
Your thoughts can't hold any power over you if you don't judge them. If you notice yourself having a negative thought, detach from it, witness it, and don't follow it.
6. Squash the "ANTs"
In his book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen talks about "ANTs" - Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them!
7. Practice Lovin', Touchin' & Squeezin' (Your Friends and Family)
You don't have to be an expert to know the benefits of a good hug. Positive physical contact with friends, loved ones, and even pets, is an instant pick-me-up. One research study on this subject had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm as she handed them their checks. She received higher tips from these customers than from the ones she didn't touch!
8. Increase Your Social Activity
By increasing social activity, you decrease loneliness. Surround yourself with healthy, happy people, and their positive energy will affect you in a positive way!
9. Volunteer for an Organization, or Help another Person
Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.
10. Use Pattern Interrupts to Combat Rumination
If you find yourself ruminating, a great way to stop it is to interrupt the pattern and force yourself to do something completely different. Rumination is like hyper-focus on something negative. It's never productive, because it's not rational or solution-oriented, it's just excessive worry. Try changing your physical environment - go for a walk or sit outside. You could also call a friend, pick up a book, or turn on some music.
When it comes to the corporate world, protocol is pretty much the religion. To know the things needed to do are the basics of productivity, but interaction and having a steady mind makes up the entire thing to true productivity. There are those who seem to work well even under pressure, but they're uncommon ones and we are human and imperfect. To get these little things like stress under our skins won't solve our problems. Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to admit that we're turning to be workaholics than tell ourselves that we're not doing our best.

Coping With Anger
The wild tempest that rages within us when we are furiously angry has been a focus for much of Western civilization’s great literature. In his plays, William Shakespeare immortalized the lengths to which extreme anger can devastate relationships.
King Lear exiles his most beloved daughter from his kingdom and his heart when she angers him. “We have no such daughter, nor shall ever see that face of hers again,” he rages. “Thererfore be gone/Without our grace, our love, our benison.” (King Lear, Act 1, Scene 1.) But Lear learns, after it is too late, that she is the one daughter who truly loves him.
In Othello, the insane Iago poisons Othello’s heart with lies about his beautiful wife, Desdemona. The Moore is driven into the blackest of rages over Iago’s tales of infidelity and kills her in a fit of anger. He learns of her innocence after it is too late, and, like Lear, he dies a tragic death.
We all have felt the hot flashes of anger, although, perhaps, not on such an epic scale as Shakespeare depicted. However, even though you might not be driven to radical lengths, the ability to control your temper, whether or not your anger is justified, remains crucial to both your personal and professional life.
When you are angry, you should first examine why you are angry. Be specific in describing to yourself the cause of your anger. Then try to see the situation from a different point of view. We can become so wrapped up in our own feelings and difficulties that we forget that, for the most part, people are truly trying to do the best they can. They aren’t out to get us.
When we are angry with others, we are often being unfair to them. Our anger usually arises out of a misunderstanding or an unrealistic expectation. What seems like infuriating behavior is more often just the other person’s effort to keep his or her balance.
When you’re angry you should ask yourself, “Am I jumping to false conclusions? Do I have unrealistic expectations?” It also helps if you try to see things from the other person’s point of view, and avoid believing you know how he or she ought to be acting. For example, suppose a man is furious with a boy in his neighborhood who hits his new car with a rock, but his attitude toward the boy changes when he learns the boy’s sister is dying.
If you decide your anger is justified but that it is not an appropriate time to engage in an all-out confrontation, you need to control your anger. One strategy to stem the rising tide of anger involves becoming more aware of how your body reacts as you grow irate. Through various relaxation techniques, you can learn to bring the physical effects of anger under immediate control.
It’s important to pay attention to how your posture changes when you are angry. For example, as you struggle to keep your composure, you might find yourself tightly gripping the telephone receiver, or clutching the steering wheel of your car in traffic. The jaws are also a target for stress.
When you’re angry, you will most likely find yourself tensely clenching your teeth. Realizing that these are common reactions and that they are not helping you calm down is a big first step in coping with your anger. Now you should take additional steps to do something about it.
I always recommend to my clients and people who attend my seminars to use progressive relaxation exercises. These exercises help you center; they teach you to be aware of your body’s reactions when you’re angry and to assert some control over them. In progressive relaxation exercises, you alternately tense your muscles and relax them. You can start at your feet and work your way up to your head, or you can focus on a particular tense area.
Here are some other techniques to help you cope with anger:
• Take deep breaths. Like the progressive relaxation exercise, deep breathing encourages you to relax and normalize your body’s reaction to anger.
• Take notes. This can help you reflect on what the person who angered you has said. The very act of writing will force you to take some time before you respond and will help you obtain a more objective point of view.
• Close your eyes and use positive visualization. Closing your eyes gives you time to relax and shut out the world. Couple this with positive visualization, a technique where, for example, you picture yourself speaking calmly and objectively with the person you are angry with until you reach a satisfactory resolution of the problem, and your results are very effective.
• Use the hold button on the telephone. If you are on the telephone and find yourself growing angrier by the minute, don’t be afraid to use the hold feature on your telephone. Be polite, of course, and don’t get off the telephone too abruptly or keep the person holding for too long. Make sure you take the time to calm down so that you don’t end up saying something you’ll regret later.
• Lower your tone of voice. When people are angry, their voices tend to get louder. Be aware of this, and consciously turn down your volume. When you are shouting, nobody is listening, and you are only exacerbating an already tense situation.
Anger can be a frighteningly overwhelming emotion. Whether your anger comes on like a sudden storm or simmers slowly, you must learn how and when to express your anger. It is healthy for us to acknowledge that we are hurt or threatened or frustrated, but we must make sure that our expression of anger is appropriate. Otherwise, we could end up with a fate as tragic as that of a character in a Shakespearean drama.

Self Talk
Self talk is something we all do. We are always explaining things to ourselves, and making comments to ourselves. The question is, what are we saying? What we say to ourselves radically affects the quality of our lives, and our ability to do things effectively.
Are you using positive self-talk or negative self-talk? Below are some of the things that positive and negative people say. Look at the difference, and start talking to yourself in more constructive ways, if you don't already.
Positive Self Talk
Positive people explain bad things by externalizing them ("The weather caused it."). They consider them temporary ("That was a rough couple hours."). They see them as isolated ("THAT part of the plan didn't work, but..."). When they explain good things, they internalize them ("Life is great!"), consider them to be more or less permanent changes ("Now I know how to do this."), and generalize from them ("Things are working out well.").
"I've done well with this."
"This has become a great business to be in."
"I like the way things are going."
"That just went bad due to the weather."
"It was rough for an hour or two."
"The car broke down, but the trip was fun."
Negative Self Talk
Negative people explain bad things by internalizing them ("It's me again."). They consider them permanent ("It's always this way."). They generalize ("Life sucks."). When they explain good things, they externalize them ("That's just lucky."), consider them temporary ("That went well TODAY."), and see them only in a specific context ("At least THIS went right.").

"Well, THAT went okay, I guess."

If you start explain things to yourself differently, you'll see a difference in your attitude today. Make positive self talk your normal mode of operation, and you'll see a difference in your life. One of the fastest ways to change your experience of life is to change your self talk.

Changing Negative to Positive Thoughts
Positive thoughts equal positive results. It's been proven time and again throughout the ages by some of the most successful people we have come to know. From as far back as time records people have used positive thinking to change the course of their lives, to change the circumstances of their position and improve themselves in any and all areas.
The act of changing the way you think sounds so simple, so easy to implement that once you get into the habit and realize what power positive thinking holds, you'll wonder why you hadn't taken on the practice earlier in your life. Perhaps the most common reason people do not take on the task of thinking in a positive way is that it takes an action on their part, and sometimes the action needs to be a massive action.
If a person goes through the entirety of their life in a negative state of mind, it becomes ingrained into their soul and becomes who they are. Thus, taking the action to revert that thinking into positive thinking becomes an action that at times can seem futile. A person this deep in negative thinking actually turns the prospect of positive thought into a negative, it becomes a burden to them and they stay in the rut.
One of the easiest ways to combat the negative thoughts that sometimes attempt encroachments in your mind is to recognize that it's a thought that you don't want there and immediately replace it with a positive thought of the same nature. Do this whether that negative thought is a real thing currently in your life, whether it's something that could happen or if it's something that has happened.
If that negative beast is something that is currently going on in your life, the positive thought you replace it with should be a thought of how you'd prefer that specific situation to be. Perhaps a thought comes in your mind about how far behind you are on a specific bill, picture in your mind the bill and the amount it is. Now change it. Instead of showing a large balance owed, change the picture in your mind to show a zero balance.
Now picture yourself holding that zeroed out bill in your hand, look at that smile on your face and the feeling of elation in your soul. Keep that visualization in your mind for a while, keep there for as long as you possibly can and revel in the positive feelings it's generating in you right now.
Don't you feel better now? Aren't you more ready to take on whatever task you were in the middle of when that nasty tried coming into your thoughts? It works and after time it will become a mere habit to change all of your thoughts into positive thoughts. You can feel all those great feelings all of the time and with this positive frame of mind you will be able to accomplish anything.

Step 4: Put Those Tasks In Their Order Of Importance
Each night before you go to bed decide what will be the most important task that you need to accomplish the following day.
Make sure that you organize yourself so that you can complete this task as well as the other things you have to do that day. Successful people know how to make decisions and set priorities. That is the shortcut to success.
Step 5: Complete One Of Those Important Steps Each Day
If you can accomplish one task each day then you will have accomplished 365 tasks in one year. Just imagine how much improvement that could total.
Many people set goals but very few carry out an important, goal focused task each day. It's not that they can't do it, they simply don't do it.
This fifth step is where the power resides. It is the habit of chipping away at your goal each and every day that will bring that goal into reality. If you can't complete a particular task in a day then that task is too big. Keep the tasks small and achievable and before you know it you will have your success goal.
When you look forward a year it may seem a long way away and that may make you impatient. The interesting thing is that impatient people rarely develop the rhythm of daily action necessary to achieve their goal and so when the year has passed they are no closer than they were when the year began.
Keep taking those little steps, one after the other, and you may just amaze yourself at how much you achieve.

Do You Have This Bad Habit?
It's likely that all of us have this bad habit to some extent, and I nominate it for the title of the worst habit one can have. What is it? Fighting reality rather than accepting and dealing with things the way they are. Here are some examples, and a few suggestions as to how to break this habit.
Are You Fighting Reality?
Fighting reality is a subtle habit, expressing itself in everything from blaming others for our problems to getting angry at traffic, to wishful thinking. How do know when you are doing it? Watch for these clues.
Consider how rarely you complain, or are angry or annoyed because rocks are hard and water is wet. Your easy acceptance of the facts of nature is due to clearly seeing this is simply the way it is. You have no ideas that rocks should be soft or water dry. In other areas of life, however, you probably do have ideas about how things "should be." This is the first clue that you may be "fighting reality."
Of course you can work to make the world a better place, but you don't need to deny or fight reality to do that. I once failed in business because I felt that there "shouldn't be" regulations and complicated tax systems. I used these ideas as excuses for not doing all that I had to do to succeed. Entrepreneurs may agree with that laissez-faire viewpoint, but successful ones also accept that things are how they are, and deal with it.
A great way to excuse ourselves from taking responsibility, and one of the subtle ways of fighting reality, is to blame. Seeing the role that outside factors and other people play in our problems is honesty, but focusing more on assigning blame than on how to deal with the problems is just a bad habit. It's like a child screaming "I don't want it this way!" thinking that complaints will change reality. It isn't very productive, as you may notice in friends who find many things and people to blame in their lives.
Breaking A Bad Habit
Blame the person who chooses to be cruel to you, but you are also to blame if you choose to be abused repeatedly by spending time with this person. It's a bit like sticking your hand in a fire repeatedly, hoping it will one day stop being hot. Almost, I say, because a person CAN change. However, how often do they? Be realistic here, or you are fighting reality as surely as when you put your hand into a fire.
A person can wait for his "ship to come in," or can face the fact that people create most of the "luck" they have in life, and start working toward his goals. I can work for political change or just complain and wish things were different. You can watch people succeed, while talking about the "reasons" for your failures, or you can see what they are doing to succeed and try that.
Sometimes we don't want to see the truth. To really want to see it we may need to look at the futility of fighting reality. Who is more likely to find happiness in this world, a man who demands it should be the way he wants it, or one who accepts things as they are, changes what he can, and does what he needs to do? Who will more likely succeed, a man who knows all about how things "should be," or one who sees only what is there and deals with it?
Do you need motivation to change? Start watch complainers and blamers and those who say "should" and "shouldn't" too often. Watch closely, and you'll see how they suffer for their demands on reality. This is a bad habit upon which many other bad habits are based, but it can be broken.

Changing Negative to Positive Thoughts
Positive thoughts equal positive results. It's been proven time and again throughout the ages by some of the most successful people we have come to know. From as far back as time records people have used positive thinking to change the course of their lives, to change the circumstances of their position and improve themselves in any and all areas.
The act of changing the way you think sounds so simple, so easy to implement that once you get into the habit and realize what power positive thinking holds, you'll wonder why you hadn't taken on the practice earlier in your life. Perhaps the most common reason people do not take on the task of thinking in a positive way is that it takes an action on their part, and sometimes the action needs to be a massive action.
If a person goes through the entirety of their life in a negative state of mind, it becomes ingrained into their soul and becomes who they are. Thus, taking the action to revert that thinking into positive thinking becomes an action that at times can seem futile. A person this deep in negative thinking actually turns the prospect of positive thought into a negative, it becomes a burden to them and they stay in the rut.
One of the easiest ways to combat the negative thoughts that sometimes attempt encroachments in your mind is to recognize that it's a thought that you don't want there and immediately replace it with a positive thought of the same nature. Do this whether that negative thought is a real thing currently in your life, whether it's something that could happen or if it's something that has happened.
If that negative beast is something that is currently going on in your life, the positive thought you replace it with should be a thought of how you'd prefer that specific situation to be. Perhaps a thought comes in your mind about how far behind you are on a specific bill, picture in your mind the bill and the amount it is. Now change it. Instead of showing a large balance owed, change the picture in your mind to show a zero balance.
Now picture yourself holding that zeroed out bill in your hand, look at that smile on your face and the feeling of elation in your soul. Keep that visualization in your mind for a while, keep there for as long as you possibly can and revel in the positive feelings it's generating in you right now.
Don't you feel better now? Aren't you more ready to take on whatever task you were in the middle of when that nasty tried coming into your thoughts? It works and after time it will become a mere habit to change all of your thoughts into positive thoughts. You can feel all those great feelings all of the time and with this positive frame of mind you will be able to accomplish anything.

Subliminal Persuasion Techniques
Subliminal persuasion is the way of getting another party to agree with you without outwardly doing so and without the other person noticing that you were trying to persuade him or her. A lot of people do not even notice that they have been won over by a simple smile – thus, making even that a tool for subliminal persuasion.
You can subliminally persuade another person through two techniques: via his or her own words, and via inflection, or the particular words we give emphasis to in a given statement. A simple sentence like "I can't assure you that" can have a lot of meanings, depending on which word you have inflected. See the examples below.
I can't assure you that. (But somebody else probably can)
I can't assure you that. (No way that will happen!)
I can't assure you that. (But, if you're lucky, you might get it.)
I can't assure you that. (But I can if it's somebody else.)
I can't assure you that. (Maybe I can assure you something else.)
Giving off what we mean via inflection is subtle. It will also help spare you from being overtly direct, especially if you're the type who hates the thought of turning someone down. Understanding which words to emphasize will save you from this awkward moment (yet you still get to have things go your way).
Another way to subliminally persuade other people is to have them eventually agree with you without them noticing it (because they thought it was their idea). This is a rather tricky method of persuasion and not many people might agree with it. But, hey, it works!
When negotiating, repeat what the other person said and then show how you will be able to achieve what they want for them. Be consistent so you don't run the risk of contradicting yourself. As long as you have what the other party needs, you hold an advantage.
Here's an example. Let's say you're trying to sell used cars to a friend. After listening to the other person tell you what he or she is looking for in a used car, emphasize the items being sought in the vehicles you have in your roster. It will be difficult for the other party to say 'no' since you already have what he or she said he or she needed. This is what subliminal persuasion is; and when employed the right way, it works like a charm every time.
There's nothing bad about using such clever persuasion techniques to get what you want. That's the way life is played. This is how the rest of the world operates. The important thing is always go for the win-win resolution. If your persuasion skills are powerful enough (and even cunning enough), you'll have no trouble winning people over.
Some like to call this influence; some argue this is foolery. However you might choose to view it, it is effective. And it won't be a surprise if you attempt to employ these effective strategies in the future; that is, if you haven't already applied them in the past.

SUCCESS: Visualizing The Desire For Riches in Six Practical Steps
One of my favorite books in helping me achieve the success I so desire is called Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This man wrote this book in the 1930's essentially as a playbook for all business owners to actually succeed and become obscenely rich. One of the techniques that Napoleon Hill teaches is to help you visualize the desire of having a certain amount of money or the financial equivalent by following six key practical steps which I will outline.
Step 1: The first step in this process is to identify the exact amount of money that you want. Most people make the mistake of saying, "I want plenty of money." This will not work because it is not a definite amount you can focus on and work towards. So, you must say, as an example, "I am going to make $420,000 cash" Having a specific amount ensures that you have a clear target or goal to achieve.
Step 2: Identify exactly what you want to give to achieve this objective. For example, I will mow lawns to achieve my $420,000 cash. The bottom line is this you do not get something for nothing, so you will have to do something to achieve your objective.
Step 3: Set a specific date in which you will achieve your financial target. For example your statement should now read, "I am going to make $420,000 cash in the next 12 months to buy a house". Having a specific date ensures that you once again have a target to focus on.
Step 4: Create a definite plan on how you will achieve your financial desire by the intended date. The plan should begin immediately regardless of whether you have finished your plan in detail. The biggest mistake people make is to NOT get out and get going.
Step 5: Now that you have your plan it is time to write a clear and concise statement of what your desired amount of money is, when you are going to acquire it, how you are going to earn that money and what you intend to give and finally you need to define the plan on how you will accumulate it.
Step 6: Now that you have your statement you must believe and have faith in it and train your mind to know you will achieve it. Twice daily, once in the morning and once at night you need to read your statement aloud. As Napoleon Hill states in his book, Think and Grow Rich - "AS YOU READ - SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY".
The key with this process is to follow the instructions described in these six steps and to observe the sixth and final step. If you do not believe in your heart, mind and soul that you can see yourself having this money, then you never will. You must totally believe that you can "SEE YOURSELF IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY" or you never will.

Do you find it easy to know what you want and express it clearly? If not, what is holding you back?
Whether we pay homage to God, Nature, the Universe or whatever, there comes a time when we seek help or intervention for something important to us, something that affects our innermost desires. Very often our prayers or requests are not granted and then we tend to lose hope. But we are not likely to have our prayers answered for three main reasons.
First, we tend to pray or make our request when there is a crisis, so we pray with anxiety and desperation, the panic button at full throttle, with lots of doubts and fears, and no real belief in routine miracles or getting a result! Surprise, surprise, nothing much happens, which then confirms the lurking doubt within us that our god doesnt truly care or isnt really there!
Second, any prayer to a higher unseen power takes a massive leap of faith and belief in what is possible and we tend to lack such blind faith.Third, and most important, we fail to ask specifically for what we want because we have not stopped to think about it clearly. Instead we cling to a generalised idea of our situation a kind of cure-all Help me please! plea because too many things in our life need sorting out. We are afraid to make our request specific in case it might seem unrealistic, unreasonable or even selfish to others.
But that attention to specifics is what helps to provide focus, and once we start to focus we begin to energise the desire, to make it an intention rather than just a fleeting wish, which then moves people and the environment to help us to achieve it. In fact, to show how the Universe delivers when we have faith, just think of any item, like a type and colour of car, and focus on it for a while. From that moment on, a rush of cars conforming to that type and colour will come into your vision; the articles which draw your attention in magazines are likely to relate to it and unexpected occurrences around that type of car will begin to happen. The power of thought is phenomenal for fulfilling our wishes. Sooner or later, circumstances will conspire in a series of coincidences to give us that car, if it was our desire. We are on earth to be happy and healthy; to have our desires fulfilled. However, it is a focus on negativity which keeps us feeling unhappy.
There is no great mystery to fulfilling our dreams. So long as we can articulate exactly what we want, we can always achieve it with action and commitment. I am in total agreement with Steve Andreas and Charles Faulkner (NLP: The New Technology of Achievement) when they say, In NLP we believe that anyone can do anything. If its not possible the world of experience will let us know. Well find out by doing, not by thinking that we cant.
Magical Ingredients
In fact, I believe that we can have anything we want in our lives if we have five simple attributes, what I call my magical ingredients:
1. The self-belief that we can make it happen.
2. The faith in our abilities, and a higher power, to carry it out.
3. The action and effort to bring it to fruition.
4. The willingness to pay the price in focus and commitment
5. The COURAGE and patience to see it through.
There is nothing so great about my suggestion. It is the power of thought and belief that has built our world. When I use my computer I am writing on someone elses thought which they brought into being through their belief. When I use a microwave, I use someone elses thought, the direct manifestation of their faith in what is possible. I remember the fear around radiation when we first started using it. Seems such a long time ago! When I drive my car I am enjoying Henry Fords thought and experimentation for my comfort and journey.
Every time I turn on the electric light we take for granted I am using Thomas Edison thought and the personal courage and determination that took him 10,000 attempts and a massive leap of faith to get it working. And as you read my book you are sharing my thought and creation, the end result and confirmation of a deep faith and belief that I could actually write a book for public consumption, take action on it and find the courage and determination to bring it to life! I simply asked, believed in it, took action, and it was given.
Experience, and lots of achievements, have taught me that every thought and creation is marked by seven stages:
1. Excitement
2. Fear
3. Possibility
4. Belief 8. Result
5. Faith
6. Action
7. Commitment
Most people get stuck on stage 2 (FEAR) so very little happens to them to reinforce the talent and ability they know they possess. I have few fears so I get a result EVERY TIME, even if it is not the result I wanted. That only fires me up to keep trying until I get the desired outcome. There is nothing more exciting than creating your own reality, seeing an idea take life from nothing except your thought and watching it evolve nothing! Others might only reach stage three in their ideas so they end up without any action. A few might make it to stage six but lack the stickability to produce the right results, while the ones who have the five essential ingredients mentioned earlier (my magic formula) will triumph in the end. They will reach a result, no matter how long it takes.
If you believe it, you can create it. Your focus and thought processes will eventually find the means and resources to do so and your commitment will give it life. This applies particularly to finding the right soulmate. If you believe someone special is there for you, your faith, action and commitment will bring him into your world. Its your level of resistance and non-belief that will keep her away.
Self-belief and faith are two powerful tools in getting us what we require, but without the action to bring it to life, and the courage and commitment to stick with it, we will always remain dreamers. Self-belief and faith are also governed by our past experiences. If we have not done very well in our own eyes, or have not achieved the success we have sought, both of those ingredients gradually diminish as we brand ourselves failures and hide behind our fears. We come to dread trying and experimenting with anything new because we fear having to face the consequences of any action which fail to come up to expectations. Yet consequences are part and parcel of results. We cannot escape them. The only way to cope with them is to get more of the results we desire.

How Can your Attention be Utilized as Your Energy?
Open your horizons. Find quality in small things, not the big ones. A more spiritual orientation brings about observing the details that go by unseen when you look for the big things.

Can you control your attention? The ability to control your attention, to control where you focus your attention, endows you with the ability to create your environment. It furnishes you with energy to do work, study, finish projects, succeed in your endeavors when you can see both the whole picture and also the details, and in general, it enables you to react to situations with enough rationality to direct them toward your objectives. You become aware by focusing your attention on something. Before placing your attention on that something, it didn’t exist for you. Now that you focused on it, you became aware of it and it exists for you. By observing you make things alive in your own universe. And obversely, when you put less attention on something, it tends to disappear. Is your life precisely what you wish it to be? If not, no matter the reason, you can still learn to control your attention, and thereby, learn to create.
Is your attention being controlled by external events when everything disturbs you, when the smallest rustling distracts you? If that is the case, then you certainly don’t know how to handle energy. When instead of being directed by you, your attention is controlled by external events, then your energy too is controlled by external events. We have bodies to learn how to handle energy. An expression of wasting it could be the lack of cash flow as wished. People who have a high concentration level, who can control the flow of their attention, have more energy than others do. It’s not that they have more energy — they simply know how to handle it better. So control it. You see, usually, when not working on it, awareness, or one's attention is guided, controlled by outside events: by emotions, unwanted emotions, the chattering of the mind, etc. However, when you work on it and develop your control, consciousness is the one directing the awareness, and that's as it should be. Then you flow with the universal energy, which therewith can flow through you and imbue you with its plenty. When you allow your attention to float like a boat without a rudder on high seas, you block the universe from being able to give to you.
Individuals with easily dispersed attention often seem to act neurotically. They could be said to be unstable. They feel guilt-ridden, having too many unfinished tasks on their conscience. They get into something, then something else comes up and they give that something else attention while they leave the first thing unattended and so on and so on. Too many loose ends. They seldom finish things before going on to the next thing, and yet they leave their attention on the unfinished projects or wishes. They don't even end them in their minds, so they are kept in a constant state of distraction, their concentration dispersed, and then they judge themselves on all those things they haven't done. Instead of treating these individuals with antidepressants, tranquilizers, barbiturates or other goodies, instead of beating to death their childhood or past life traumas, it would suffice to teach them step by step how to control their attention and how to finish what they began.
An inability to control one’s attention may be regarded as “just another symptom,” and consequently, treatment may be aimed at something else. Yet learning to control one’s attention could cure many psychological disorders. Your energy is your ability to focus your attention where you wish.
Perhaps, you keep playing the same record in your private chatterbox you call your brains, disabled by the automatic repetitions of babble you call your thoughts. Maybe your attention is stuck in past events, thinking that if you had only said this or that, then… whatever, or maybe you hold onto all those terrible things that were done to you. When your attention is trapped in past unfulfilled wills, you have less attention, less energy to carry on. If you become more in control of your attention, you can learn to let go and thus become involved in the present rather than in the past. For that to occur, however, you need to know how to control your attention.
Of course, you could be one of those who lack self-confidence, which is the result of being too self-conscious, which means your attention is stuck on yourself — the condition I named the “bubble syndrome.” This may be the result of being afraid of critical attention. If that’s the case, then you should turn your attention outward instead of focusing it on the self. That’s listening. I call listening everything that has to do with putting your attention outside yourself. Listening can be achieved by being interested in the other instead of being interested in oneself.
Self-confidence is the ability to not focus upon yourself, the ability to give others your full attention. But since your attention is curved back on you, the external world goes unnoticed and you are either unaware or uninterested in others’ predicaments or joys. Because your attention is trapped in the narrow circle described between you and you, there is not much left over for others. When you direct your attention on yourself, you don't direct it upon others. Then these others can't feel you care for them. To really experience — and this has been a great secret — you should experience others by being them, loving them, without expecting something miraculous to happen as a result of this act. The pure joy of being, existing, is the greatest miracle.
How to love would be a relevant question here. The first thing in learning to love is to be Nothing, which means not being beautiful or ugly, happy or unhappy, not this and not that, just being and then seeing — seeing other life forms and listening to them. This means that all your attention is on them, not on yourself. You see them and become them as much as you can. You feel what they feel. You participate in their hopes, loves, whatever, and then it is only natural that you want to make them happy by giving them what they want because you are no longer separate from them. You are they, so you would do unto them what you would have done unto yourself — only it is their wish you fulfill. You are they when you want the same, and since you have gone through being Nothing, you can be anything and you are able to love anyone.
Being self-centered is often the result of a fear of criticism, of what-will-others-think-of-me. Wanting to be accepted and loved, one can become wary of not being accepted and loved. This vigilance is achieved by constantly searching for revealing signs and statements uttered by others to detect what they think of you. Such behavior may be misconceived as attentiveness, and yet what is the self-conscious person really interested in? In the other? No. He is interested in himself through the other. That is still curving one’s attention back on oneself, investing in looking good in the eyes of the other.
Be the actor, not the act. When your whole world is you and only you, it is a small world and you are the act. When you are interested in others, when you can turn your attention outward, then you are the actor, and then you are the world, the big world.
As long as your attention is on yourself instead of the joy of doing and acting, you draw critical attention back at you and you receive evaluations. When you enhance your self as the object, then it is you who is getting graded and judged, not the act. This is why you feel you are losing confidence in yourself. Enjoy the doing and you will see the difference. Stop dreaming of how you will be admired, and instead, revel in acting out the different parts, sense the feelings and emotions of the roles. That makes the whole difference.
This constant preoccupation with one’s self prevents one from having experiences, real, enriching experiences. Affirmations of being good, or getting “gooder” by the day, is such a preoccupation that too often turns into self-criticism, intensifying the labels of what’s wrong with oneself. When that’s the main theme of one’s existence, then what do you think this person experiences? Occupy yourself with experiencing things. Turn your attention outward rather than toward what you think to be your deficiencies.
You may be unhappy because you don’t have: you don’t have money, you don’t have youth, you don’t have health, you don’t have beauty, you don’t have a sex-partner, you don’t have parents, you don’t have a job, and the list goes on and on. Look at you! You center your attention on what you miss and miss what you have. Life can pass you by and you won't notice that you forgot to live and experience. As if this wasn’t serious enough, the consequences of focusing on what we miss are even more morbid.
About 99% of humans fear uncertainty and lack of stability. However, when you look at the lack, then that is what you increase since you create your own reality by focusing. By putting your attention on things, you make them real. So when you put your attention on a lack, you increase that lack. In order to feel stability — which is a feeling, an attitude, and not something objective — you ought to change your attitude. You are not confronting immediate life threatening problems. You are afraid of the future, afraid of how you will perform in the future. To solve this problem, think of uncertainty in a different way: try to learn to live with uncertainty. How? Through faith in the universe, in knowing you belong to the universe, faith in yourself. The wider your scope of activity becomes, the more uncertainties you will face. Learn to live with uncertainty and then you won't need to shrink the sphere of your activities and interests in order to entomb yourself in certainty. Expand, have faith, and then you can live with uncertainty and live well, feeling stable in spite of uncertainty uncertainty (how to achieve that, see my article, Could Holophany Guide us to Live Comfortably in Uncertainty?). Know that you, the real you, can never be hurt, only the role, the possessions, the temporary part. That is indeed a leap into the spiritual realm. Faith. When you have faith, your attitude changes, and you won't view uncertainty as an unwelcome guest. When you have that attitude, then you will have freed attention to work with and expand into more stability in your everyday life, without pressure, without feeling that doom hangs over your head, which was placed there by your own self in the first place.
Stability is due to control. Life is one big uncertainty, which you cannot control. What you can control is your attention, which when controlled can guarantee your stability even within uncertainty. This ensures that you can live well in uncertainty.
Happiness could be a few blocks down the road, once you can control your attention and when you know where to direct it. If you are bored, uncreative, or you feel life is a drag because of all those things you have to do, put your attention on things that really interest you, and then you will be able to enjoy your life in full. However, this is not always as simply done as said, because you may feel you have to do those things you don’t enjoy and you have no choice. To overcome this platitude (which seems to you the coercion of facts), you may need to understand Holophany enough so you can change your attitude in those areas where indicated and thereby turn your environment into a more desirable scene. Even to learn Holophany and to understand the philosophy of how things work, you need a certain span of attention and concentration, and a certain control of your energy. The main lesson to learn is to handle energy, which includes knowing where your attention is aimed at and controlling it. This teaches you to look and observe, to see others including their problems and desperation. This is exercising control over your energy.
When you are familiar with the techniques of controlling your attention, you can become a virtuoso with abilities that may seem supernatural to those who don’t know how to observe. Your memory and intelligence will improve as well as your creativity. First, however, you need to learn to focus. Focusing is the ability to concentrate on one thing for a long time (long defined as relative to you). It is putting attention on something, investing your energy as stated above. It is also paying attention to detail. When you can lock out the automatic mind chatter, then you can start splitting attention and focus on more than one thing at a time, thereby creating a kind of field, which is very creative in all respects. That’s when you get insights, connect between things you have not connected before. Splitting your attention allows you to trigger things within an area in which you focus and then things happen. This focus allows you to see the nature of things as a process, the relations within a certain complex structure, and from there you can easily create changes by changing the dynamic aspect, the relations of the complex structure. Then the whole structure changes somewhat as seen from your point of view. Try to visualize this paragraph, even in meditation, until you get it. This is the result of the ability to focus, which of course starts, as I have stated, with a laser-like ability to center, locking out all other noise.
Controlling the wanderings of one’s attention is controlling awareness, which is the access code of consciousness. Our attention is the most basic dynamic aspect of our creation.

Creating Positive Thoughts With Affirmations
Our thoughts are a marinade for the mind. Positive thoughts create
positive, confident choices and, ultimately, success. But research
shows that a full 75% of our thinking is negative, and that can lead
to fear, discouragement, and frustration.
The good news is that positive thinking is a specific skill that
can be learned and improved upon. Here's how to replace your negative
thoughts with more positive ones by creating and using your own affirmations.
Step One
Ask yourself: What about your life would you most like to change?
Make a brief list of your most significant life challenges.
Step Two
Narrow down these challenges into specifics. (Example: "I owe a lot
of money" becomes "I owe money to credit card companies.")
Step Three
For each challenge, brainstorm all of the possible solutions. Visualize the
best possible outcome of your problem.
Step Four
State this outcome in a clear, direct sentence, and keep the focus on specifics.
Write your affirmation in the present tense and in a positive way. (Example:
"I will pay off my credit card debt" becomes "I can pay off my credit card debt." )
If you find objections surfacing in the form of negative self-talk, restate the
objection in the form of a positive thought. (Example: Affirmation: "I can pay
off my credit card debt." Objection: "I can't come up with that kind of money!"
New affirmation: "I can find ways to earn all the money I need.")
Print your affirmations and place them where you'll see them throughout the day
and repeat your affirmations aloud, several times a day, with conviction. Always
say your affirmations before you drift off to sleep at night and repeat them again
upon waking in the morning, when your mind is most receptive to new ideas.
