She has taught me to look inside myself, to stretch and grow and become the woman I was born to be. I am also proud to be one of the first founding members of her BraveHeart Women's Global Community Foundation which is a very special honor for me!
Her lessons of "It's Easier Done Than Said" has changed my life. I would like to share some of her daily reminders that assist me to live my life with ease:
PURPOSE - True purpose is to discover and resolve any blocks within myself so that my success will be richly meaningful. To pray for assistance and wisdom to step into the depth of the purpose which we wereborn.
SOUL to SOUL - Have a deeper sense of self, to look beyond others' personalities to see their deeper self. This creates true connections with others.
MIND-BODY - Continuously strive for positive thoughts. To realize that our power to remain positive increases and rewards us with feeling of vitality and longevity within our bodies. This will in turn encourage our minds to create more positive thoughts.
CHANGE - We may not be able to change everything in our life with one decision, yet are able to change the direction of our life with one decision. That direction begins to change when we start to look within ourselves.

How To Finally Take Charge Of Your Life And Achieve All You Desire!
If you don't consider yourself an open-minded person, you may want to leave this page right now, because you're about to blow your top.
The next time you are in a crowded shopping center, look around. How many people do you think are really broken hearted inside, their passion sucked out of them a long, long time ago?
Perhaps they once had dreams to take charge of their own life, now others take charge of their life and their finances.
Their boss decides their pay.
Their company decides whether they stay or go for another year.
All they look forward to are weekends and the next holiday.
Some may call it reality. I say it's a result of a hell of a lot of brainwashing.
Do you remember your first day in school? From the first day, everyone has to have the same hairstyle, wear identical shoes and wear the same shirts for physical exercise.
I don't have anything against discipline because it is extremely important for success, but the school system is really designed to train people to become employees.
Having your own opinion in school is wrong. Only the teacher's opinion matters. So what if he is wrong?
Look at the typical person's path in life:
Go to school --> Find a job --> Get married --> Buy a car --> Buy a big house --> Get mail boxes full of bills that somehow seem to increase each and every year
Because of the added expenses, the person has to stay in his job. He becomes desperate for a promotion. Soon, he starts to have sleepness nights. Then a child comes. He has to start thinking about the child's education fees.
Why? Because school never talks about money. From young, we learn that 'money is the root of all evil', 'Money is not important', 'Love is more important than money'.
Tell me, if I gave you a choice to cut off your leg or your hand, which would you choose? You can't choose between love or money, because they are both important in this world.
It's a question of knowing when to go against the grain. I'm not saying become a rebel to society, but one must know which choices are truly helping a person achieve the lifestyle he or she wants.

Abe Lincoln's Productivity Secret
One of my favorite quotations comes from Abraham Lincoln when he said "Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."
Not only was that a metaphor for how we might approach all work in which we engage, but it also represented his philosophy as a skilled woodcutter. He spent much of his early life working odd jobs including rail splitting. Considering people regard him one of the top 3 presidents in American history, he applied it to his political career as well. So we can take his quote both figuratively and in a literal sense.
Sharpening Tools for Better Results
I think of Lincoln’s quote often. It is so simple, efficient and wise to apply it to any project we undertake. After all, how many times do we bring the wrong tool to the job, only to waste countless hours or days trying to avoid the certain purchase of the right tool? In my electronics, I have this problem all the time. I'll need a Torx 6 screwdriver, but won't have one handy. Instead, I grab a small flathead screwdriver and try to remove the screw with it by wedging it in at an angle and forcing it. Naturally, this usually strips the head of the screw and damages the edge of the screwdriver.
As a boy, Abe Lincoln owned a hatchet and skill at using it. I could guess he knew intimately what the difference in outcomes he could expect when he used a dull hatchet when compared with a sharpened one. He knew the dull ax lacked efficiency; it made the work harder and resulted in less consistency in outcomes.
I own a hatchet for cutting stray branches in my yard. When the hatchet is dull, the job is long and tiring. It is even more dangerous because a dull hatchet has a tendency to bounce, resulting in a wild chop that can fling it into your leg. However, when it is sharp, the job can take as little as a few minutes and it's actually more fun.
Sharpening Your Ax to Make Your Projects Easier
But how do we "sharpen the ax" when it comes to our goals and our projects? We may set a goal to manage our money better and keep more careful track of our budget. Some of the steps include collecting all of our bills into one location, write them all down, enter them into a spreadsheet, balance our checkbook and add up our monthly expenses. Also, it would be smart to write down what we spend every time we buy something. This would involve keeping a pad of paper in our pocket and a pen so we could record them.
If you are like me, what can happen is I'll sit down, start the writing down the bills and "oops! I forgot one, I need to get up and go get it." I go into the other room, grab the bill and sit back down. After I'm there for awhile, I remember "Hey, I need my car registration, oil change receipts, and car mileage so I can record what I pay for that every year." So, up I go again, this time so I can go out to the car and rifle through the glove compartment. As you might guess, I would be lucky not to find something to distract me from my task.
To sharpen the ax in this example, it would be far better to start out by thinking. Grab a sheet of paper and make a list of all the items we need to start and everything we need to see our goal through to completion. For me, my list might look something like this:
1. Spend 10-15 minutes collecting every last bill and receipt I need to record in the ledger
2. While I'm up, grab a notepad, pen and calculator
3. Collect my wife's checkbook and my own
4. Gather all of our credit cards, banking passwords and account numbers.
5. Think through whether I need Quicken, or if I can use Excel to perform my budgeting needs
6. If I need Quicken, go up to Wal-Mart and buy it, bring it home and load it
7. Clear everything off my desk except for my computer, notepad, stack of bills and invoices
8. Might I need a drink of water? Go get a glass.
9. Will I want some music playing in the background? If so, turn it on
10. Shut the door for privacy
11. Unplug, or turn off my network connection - no e-mail, web browsing.
12. Unplug the phone in my office
13. Launch TaskBlaze
Starting with everything I need is so much more efficient, because the excuse to get up and become distracted becomes more difficult. In fact, it becomes easier to work on the project than it is to have to get up repeatedly and get a missing piece of the puzzle. When we have everything we need within arms reach, we finish faster. Progress will be steady and we will succeed more often.
Think about some of your top goals on your list for a few minutes. Do you have everything you need to keep the progress rolling along? Sure, we may have some big goals that requiring we achieve smaller goals ahead of time. So you could start with a sub-goal or "step" if you use Achieve-IT! software. Think through everything you need to carry out that step.
Sharpening your mind
Another side to sharpening the ax is educating yourself. Think of it this way. When Lincoln said the first four hours of a 6-hour tree cutting activity, he would spend the first four sharpening the saw. How can we apply this to our continuing education?
In my software building ventures, I can sometimes “paint myself into a corner” if I don't first research what I am trying to do before I start. A client may ask me to add a feature to my software that sounds great, but I don't necessarily know how to do. My tendency is to plow right in, with a dull ax and try to force the code to work. You see, it's much more fun to get started. Yet, several hours (and build failures) later, I find I've got a headache, my program isn't working and I've got a big mess on my hands. There have been more days than I care to reveal where I've messed up so bad that I've had to restore my whole project from backup - costing sometimes days of progress.
The alternative to this inefficiency is to make the first task of any project to carefully plan the enhancement. For me, writing a "mockup" or "pseudo code" of how I was going to perform the task. And finally, using my rough draft as a guide ask what I need to read and research to get that job done. It might not be fun to face the fact I don't know something. I like to think of myself as smart. But by admitting I don't know it and then seeking out chapters of books or articles describing what I want to do and then compiling it, I learn.
Pitfalls to Ax Sharpening and How to Do It Anyway
Why do we avoid sharpening the ax? This usually is because we want to begin our projects right away. We want to get moving so we can complete the tasks as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, like the examples above reveal, going to work with a dull ax usually takes longer and makes the task less enjoyable.
We can motivate ourselves to sharpen the saw is to remember we face several risks for not sharpening:
* We risk extending the time it takes to complete our goals.
* We risk frustrating ourselves by having to stop several times midway through and having to sharpen.
* We risk damaging the work and tools we already have
* We risk decreased enjoyment of working through the project.
We want to enjoy what we're doing don't we?
Like everyone, I have to struggle with the fact ax sharpening isn't as fun as whacking away at the tree. Collecting the sharpening stone and ax takes time. Running a wetstone over hard steel gets boring after just a few minutes. But as Lincoln said, the simple ax sharpening can decrease tree cutting time by hours.
The Ax Sharpening Challenge
I challenge you to take some time to review your goals and look for "ax sharpening" opportunities you can take with some of them. If you are just starting out on one of your goals, ask yourself if you have everything you need to complete it. If you are missing something, what is it? Are you lacking information/education? A tool or some software? Do you have the right materials? If you are in the middle of completing a goal, then it's not too late to assess whether you have everything you need and to write it down. Whatever you are missing, go out and get it.

Key To Success: 10 Success Tips For Maximum Achievement
First off, I would echo the voice of 18th century French philosopher Voltaire, made popular and relevant in today’s leadership lexicon by "Good to Great" author Jim Collins, who said, "Good is the Enemy of Great."
1. "Good is the Enemy of Great." Get rid of the good to make room for the great in your life. Instead of keeping the main thing the main thing, we major in too many minor things. In other words, many people do a few things that are good, a lot of things that are mediocre, but nothing that is GREAT.
Find the ONE thing you can be the best in the world at and focus unrelentingly on improving that one thing, polishing it to perfection.
Choose great over good in ALL areas of your life! It is far better to have a few great things than a lot of good or mediocre things.
Instead of having six cheap shirts that you don’t feel so great in, have one fine quality shirt that you can feel proud to wear and that makes you feel like a million bucks! Instead of having five or six ho-hum paintings to decorate your walls, invest in ONE magnificent masterpiece that leaves you breathless and enriches your soul every time you look at it! Instead of going to the usual cottage retreat every long-weekend, save up your money and go on one GREAT vacation that you’ve always dreamed of like going on a European boat-cruise, snorkeling in the Red Sea, or taking an art class in Paris. Instead of many mediocre friendships, have a few great friendships that energize and inspire you and that you can spend quality time fostering deeper relationships. You get the point.
Greatness is a choice! And choice is the democratic equalizer of all people. Everyone, regardless of their rank, social status or income level has the power to choose great over good.
2. Commit to an annual theme. Instead of making and breaking a number of well-wished but half-hearted New Year’s Resolutions, commit to an annual or lifetime theme. Pick a theme that defines your singular life purpose or what you are most passionate about and stick to it.
For example, my theme is: "Write First!" I have this theme posted right in front of me above my computer. My purpose is to write.
I write first and ask questions later. I focus on writing (or things related to developing my writing) first and then worry about the urgent but non-important interruptions (paying bills, answering calls and emails, responding to invitations, etc.) that plague everyone. This theme takes precedence over everything else except my spiritual relationship with my Creator. The only exception to this rule would be a genuinely important priority that falls in one of my top values in life or attending to a family emergency.
Your main theme for 2006 could be "Family First!" or "Health First!" or "Listen First!" or "Service Above Self." Just pick one and commit to it.
Beside your main theme, make a list of your top values such as love, health, giving, peace, wealth, etc. to ground yourself and distinguish between important and non-important but urgent matters. In his autobiography, Benjamin Franklin listed thirteen virtues (Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Chastity, and Humility) to which he governed his life and gave a week’s strict attention to mastering one virtue at a time repeating the list in order every thirteen weeks.
3. Practice a policy of planned neglect. In other words, once you have established your theme or singular purpose (the one thing you can be the best in the world at) get into the habit of practicing your main habit FIRST before anything else.
Everything else that’s non-important can get neglected and keep getting put-off. In other words, your daily to-do list will keep changing around your main theme which will remain constant – with very few exceptions.
4. Make a stop doing list. I’m not sure where I first heard this idea, but I borrowed it most recently from Jim Collin’s book, "Good to Great." Too many people have important to-do lists that keep getting longer and longer. But very few people have ‘stop-doing’ lists. Make a list of everything you are doing that is not contributing to your core genius or main purpose and core values – and stop doing it! Forget about your image and what other people will think, and STOP doing what’s not great in your life.
5. Be Simple. Get rid of the good to make room for the great. Literally! Get rid of the junk in your basement and file folders!
Anything you haven’t touched or looked at in a year you probably need to get rid of it. Donate books and magazines you haven’t read and clothes you know you’re never going to wear. Empty your mind and physical space of unnecessary clutter and make room for abundance! (Daily meditation is a great way to empty the mind and allow new inspiration).
6. Make HEALTH a priority NOW! Get a full physical check-up at least once a year. If something’s bothering you or you don’t feel right about something, get it checked out IMMEDIATELY! Don’t wait, until it’s too late. Take a proactive approach to your health by taking preventative measures, eating healthy and exercising regularly. And make LOVE a top priority. If you haven’t taken the time to tell your loved ones how deeply you value and love them, then make time for it now.
Are you still reading this article? WHY? Pick-up your phone, right now, and call your doctor to make that appointment! Call your loved ones now and book some real quality time together. Life is short and fragile. You may never get the chance again.
7. Dreams. The dream is a window into your soul, a gateway into the unseen world, giving access to the unknown and revealing the invisible behind all that is visible. In my book, "Psychology of the Hero Soul," (http://www.herosoul.com; Chapter 14; pg. 77)I mention the importance of dreams and how to harness your dreams to awaken your creative potential. I can’t stress enough how important it is to get into the habit of jotting down your dreams and making an effort to interpret them. It is a great way to develop self-awareness and self-understanding and will enrich your life in many, many unforeseen ways.
Self-awareness and self-acceptance is so important in developing your self-esteem. Take the time to seriously ask yourself, "Who am I and what’s my purpose in life?" Write down your strengths and weakness, your highest ambitions and deepest fears, and make a list of everything you enjoy doing and all your hobbies. Take some personality tests to gain deeper understanding of who you are.
8. Face the brutal facts! Never hide from reality. Always get the hard facts about any situation you are facing. It doesn’t matter if you have a Harvard MBA and are the world’s greatest optimist if you pick the wrong location to open up a retail business!
Likewise, face the brutal facts about yourself. If you haven’t even come close to achieving your dreams and goals, you need to honestly ask yourself why you haven’t reached your goals and figure out what has been preventing you. A great way to accomplish this is to ask a few friends you trust and who know you the following question: "How do you see me limiting myself?" (I have Jack Canfield to thank for this great question).
Once you have the facts and fully understand the problem, spend over eighty percent of your time focusing on the solution.
9. ASK for help! If you need help, ask for it. If you don’t ask, you don’t get. Ask for the sale, ask for the date, ask for support. Stop worrying about your image, reject the rejection, and ASK!
But don’t just be a taker. Please also give. Earn the right to ask by being a giver. Be a generous giver because whatever you put out into the world will return multiplied. The hero’s journey is about following your bliss, and doing what you love to do in service to others. "Service above self," is a great motto to adopt.
10. Take Action! In my Hero Soul book, I have dedicated an entire chapter on taking action. The great succeed by taking continuous and concerted action toward a singular objective. And they continue to take unrelenting, consistent action for a period of years before becoming overnight successes.
If you do just five new things every day towards achieving your biggest dream, you will one day be living your dream and as Thoreau once said, ‘meet with a success unexpected in common hours.’
But if you aren’t going to take action on the advice in this article, why the heck are you reading it? Move on to something else!
One of my favorite movies is "The Shawshank Redemption" (based on Stephen King’s short story, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption) about a successful banker, Andy Dufresne, who is convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife. I’m sure many of you have seen it.
For nineteen years Dufresne quietly chips away at his goal to escape by literally chipping the wall in his cell – a little bit every day – until one day he reaches his goal and escapes.
His jail buddy, Red, comments that all it took "was pressure and time."
I don’t think I’ve ever seen any movie replayed so many times on TV. It really intrigued me. So I did some research and found out that according to IMDB, The Shawshank Redemption is the second most popular movie of all time with The Godfather taking first place! That’s quite the accomplishment given how long The Godfather has been out.
Why is this movie so popular? I don’t really know the answer. But I think it’s because many people feel like they’re living in a prison and have been given a life sentence to doing work they really hate. They want to break free from their shackles.
More than anything else, they want FREEDOM! And Shawshank delivers that moment of freedom. It’s a beautiful story that makes the soul weep with joy and provides the hope and promise of being human.
The great thing about Shawshank is that it also provides a solution: by quietly chipping away at your main goal and consistently taking action everyday, you will achieve the success and freedom you have been longing for. With ‘pressure and time’ you can take the darkest coal and turn it into the most brilliant, most magnificent diamond the world has ever seen.

Energy Boosters
I needed to learn about energy boosters. Fatigue and a lack of energy have been problems for all my life. In an effort to find out why, I've asked doctors, read books, and finally decided that some questions just won't be answered in my lifetime.
Fortunately, I've also learned that even without discovering the root causes of my tiredness, there are things I can do to alleviate it. Below are some of energy boosters that have worked for me and others over the years. Try them to see which work best for you, and use more than one at a time if necessary.
Ten Energy Boosters
1. Energetic music. Different types of music have different effects on us, but you can learn which are best for you by trial and error. Once you find the music that wakes you up, keep it ready. Keep a tape in your car, and a CD in the player at home.
2. Sleep better. The research seems to show that as long as you get at least five hours of sleep, the quality is more important than the quantity. Try drinking something warm before bed, or relax with a simple meditation.
3. Talk about something interesting. Have you ever seen a tired person start to talk about something they're passionate about, and suddenly "wake up." It's a powerful technique you can use for yourself. Have a few "favorite" subjects that get you going.
4. Coffee. For some of us, caffeine makes us more tired when it's abused, but short-term, it can work wonders.
5. Deep breathing. Several slow deep breaths help oxygenate the blood supply better, and especially seems to wake up the brain.
6. Have an "energy drink." The verdict isn't in on most of them, but it's a cheap option to try. I seem to get something from the ones with Ginkgo Biloba in them.
7. Move your body. Sometimes just getting up and washing the dishes, or walking around the house helps boost energy levels.
8. Exercise. It's not a quick solution, but many people notice an increase in their energy level when they get regular aerobic exercise.
9. Hot and cold shower. Try a minute of hot water, then a minute of cold, alternating for six minutes. This isn't for those with weak hearts, but it will wake you up. Incidentally, research shows that this also revs up the immune system.
10. Get outside. Often, a little sunshine and fresh air can be very energizing.
Write down the techniques that work for you when you find them, to remind yourself to use them. Of course you should try to find the reasons for your tiredness or fatigue. You may have more luck than I. In the meantime, though, why not try a few of these enrgy boosters?

SUCCESS: Visualizing The Desire For Riches in Six Practical Steps
One of my favorite books in helping me achieve the success I so desire is called Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This man wrote this book in the 1930's essentially as a playbook for all business owners to actually succeed and become obscenely rich. One of the techniques that Napoleon Hill teaches is to help you visualize the desire of having a certain amount of money or the financial equivalent by following six key practical steps which I will outline.
Step 1: The first step in this process is to identify the exact amount of money that you want. Most people make the mistake of saying, "I want plenty of money." This will not work because it is not a definite amount you can focus on and work towards. So, you must say, as an example, "I am going to make $420,000 cash" Having a specific amount ensures that you have a clear target or goal to achieve.
Step 2: Identify exactly what you want to give to achieve this objective. For example, I will mow lawns to achieve my $420,000 cash. The bottom line is this you do not get something for nothing, so you will have to do something to achieve your objective.
Step 3: Set a specific date in which you will achieve your financial target. For example your statement should now read, "I am going to make $420,000 cash in the next 12 months to buy a house". Having a specific date ensures that you once again have a target to focus on.
Step 4: Create a definite plan on how you will achieve your financial desire by the intended date. The plan should begin immediately regardless of whether you have finished your plan in detail. The biggest mistake people make is to NOT get out and get going.
Step 5: Now that you have your plan it is time to write a clear and concise statement of what your desired amount of money is, when you are going to acquire it, how you are going to earn that money and what you intend to give and finally you need to define the plan on how you will accumulate it.
Step 6: Now that you have your statement you must believe and have faith in it and train your mind to know you will achieve it. Twice daily, once in the morning and once at night you need to read your statement aloud. As Napoleon Hill states in his book, Think and Grow Rich - "AS YOU READ - SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY".
The key with this process is to follow the instructions described in these six steps and to observe the sixth and final step. If you do not believe in your heart, mind and soul that you can see yourself having this money, then you never will. You must totally believe that you can "SEE YOURSELF IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY" or you never will.
